An IDP Council is a platform through which displaced persons can interact with local authorities, informing them of their needs and offering suggestions to improve the situation
- Provides organizational, methodological, and consultative support to develop local and regional programs for displaced persons.
- Develops and submits proposals for adopting new and amended existing legal and regulatory acts in the field of protecting the rights and interests of IDPs.
- Monitors how local executive bodies perform their duties in ensuring and protecting the rights of IDPs.
Proposals prepared and approved by the Council are recorded in the minutes, which must be considered by the local authorities within ten days.
Additionally, an IDP Council can act as a representative body at various events dedicated to protecting the rights of displaced persons: forums, round tables, conferences, and more. Such participation can be aimed at attracting domestic and foreign investors, and public and international associations for infrastructure development; and enhancing the capacity of territorial communities in improving the adaptation and integration of internally displaced persons.
