Supporting Entrepreneurial Initiatives of IDPs: Mentorship Programme Launched to Prepare Applications for the Grant “Own Business”

Within the framework of the “Own Business PRO” programme, IREX in Ukraine provides participants with individual mentoring support to help them prepare high-quality business plans and applications for the state grant programme “Own Business.” The initiative was launched on 23 February and is implemented by IREX in Ukraine in partnership with EasyBusiness.

Internally displaced persons who plan to start their own business or develop an existing one are invited to join the individual mentoring support programme “Own Business PRO.”

The programme is designed to support aspiring entrepreneurs among IDPs, as well as micro and small businesses founded or led by internally displaced persons. Participants will receive assistance in preparing strong applications for the state grant programme “Own Business.”

Disseminating information about such opportunities is an important tool for supporting the economic integration of IDPs. Therefore, we encourage IDP Councils to take part in informing community members about this opportunity.

During participation in the programme, applicants can receive support with:

  • structuring a business concept;
  • preparing a business plan in line with the template of the state programme “Own Business”;
  • calculating resources, budgeting, and planning the use of grant funds;
  • analysing the market, target audience, and competitors;
  • assessing the viability of a business idea and readiness for submission.

The programme invites applications from IDPs planning to start their own business, individual entrepreneurs among IDPs, legal entities founded or led by IDPs, entrepreneurs and businesses that meet the requirements of the state programme and have no outstanding debts or sanctions restrictions.

In 2026, the state increased the basic microgrant amounts under the “Own Business” programme:

  • up to UAH 100,000 – for starting a business;
  • up to UAH 350,000 – subject to the creation of new jobs;
  • up to UAH 500,000 – for frontline regions.

Separate microgrants are also available for young people, preschool education projects, and creative industries.

Participation in the “Own Business PRO” programme does not guarantee receiving a state grant; however, it helps applicants prepare a strong application and business plan in accordance with competition requirements.

Please note that the number of places is limited. Registration is available via the provided link (Ukrainian language).
