The international non-governmental organization IMPACT and the REACH Initiative invite people who have self-evacuated from dangerous areas during the full-scale war in Ukraine to take part in a study. To participate, interested individuals are asked to complete a short screening questionnaire.
The study is looking for people who, since 2023, have left frontline regions or temporarily occupied territories by organizing their evacuation independently or with the help of relatives or friends, without using organized evacuation transport provided by the state or volunteers.
Those who would like to participate should first fill out a short form, which takes about 3–5 minutes to complete. The responses will help researchers select participants for follow-up interviews. Selected respondents may be invited to take part in an interview lasting 1–1.5 hours (online or in person). Interviews will take place from 23 March to 17 April 2026.
The aim of the study is to better understand why people decide to evacuate on their own, the challenges they face during the process, and their needs during and after displacement. The organizers hope that the findings will help humanitarian organizations and public authorities better plan support for people who are forced to leave dangerous areas.
All information will be used only in anonymized form, and participation in the study is voluntary. After the interview, participants will receive a token of appreciation in the form of a mobile top-up voucher (Kyivstar or Vodafone).
More information about the study and the participation form is available via the link (Ukrainian language).
