Priority in the Resilient Roots subgrant competition will be given to applicants working in frontline communities, as well as to initiatives led by women and/or internally displaced persons (IDPs). Applications are accepted until April 7, 2026 (inclusive).
A subgrant competition has been launched in Ukraine to support local environmental initiatives in communities affected by the devastating impact of the war. The program provides funding of up to €16,000 per project, along with mentoring and expert support during implementation.
The competition is organized by Austausch e.V. in partnership with Green Roots Hub, with support from Brot für die Welt. Its goal is to support initiatives that contribute to environmental restoration and strengthen community resilience to climate challenges.
Eligible applicants include Ukrainian-registered civil society organizations, charitable foundations, and civic associations. Projects supported under the competition may focus on:
- environmental education;
- restoration of forests and ecosystems;
- soil restoration;
- protection and restoration of water resources;
- response to the environmental consequences of war;
- climate change adaptation.
Geographic focus: Dnipropetrovska, Zaporizka, Mykolaivska, Odeska, Kharkivska, and Khersonska oblasts.
Projects should have a duration of up to 8 months. Applications must be submitted via email at green.roots.application@gmail.com. Deadline: April 7, 2026 (23:59 Kyiv time). Detailed information about the competition, the application form, and a sample budget are available via the provided link.
