At the end of January 2026, the first meeting of the newly formed Council on Internally Displaced Persons under the Executive Committee of the Mykolaiv City Council took place in Mykolaiv. This was reported on the advisory body’s Facebook page. The updated composition of the Council was formed following the completion of the previous two-year term.
During the meeting, Council members elected the leadership through voting. Svitlana Sitnik, an internally displaced person from Khersonska Oblast who also chaired the Council during the previous term, was elected as Chair. Nadiia Skopenko was elected as Deputy Chair, and Tetiana Radchenko as Secretary of the Council.
The new composition of the IDP Council includes 24 members, half of whom are internally displaced persons. The other members represent civil society organizations working with IDPs and local self-government bodies.
In addition to organizational matters, meeting participants identified key priorities for the Council’s work. These include developing strategic and operational plans, preparing proposals to support and integrate internally displaced persons into the Mykolaiv community, and establishing thematic working groups across key areas.
