How can IDP Councils influence decision-making in communities? What defines successful advocacy, and how can it be achieved? How can internally displaced persons and residents be meaningfully engaged in the work of IDP Councils?
These and other questions will be explored by participants of the Eastern Ukrainian Forum of IDP Councils, scheduled for September 4–5 in Dnipro, Ukraine.
The event will bring together representatives of central and local government bodies, IDP Councils, local self-government authorities, and civil society organizations from six oblasts: Dnipropetrovska, Donetska, Zaporizka, Sumska, Kharkivska, and Chernihivska.
The program will feature panel discussions, interactive formats — including the quest “How an IDP Council Can Support Displaced Persons” — and workshops. The Forum will also feature the presentation of the IDP Councils Portal — an information resource developed to support and strengthen Councils on issues of internally displaced persons.
Key topics of the Forum include:
● successful examples of advocacy campaigns by IDP Councils;
● engaging local stakeholders in joint work;
● strategic planning for the future of IDP Councils through 2027.
Expected participants include:
● Iryna Vereshchuk — Deputy Head of the Office of the President of Ukraine;
● Federico Sersale — Head of the UNHCR Office in Dnipro;
● Nadiia Zadorozhna — Deputy Head of the Dnipro Regional Military Administration;
