Internally displaced persons are invited to join a series of legal awareness online events starting on June 18, 2026. Participants will have the opportunity to receive answers to pressing questions from representatives of the Ombudsman’s Office and relevant government authorities.
The initiative was announced by the Ukrainian Parliament Commissioner for Human Rights, Dmytro Lubinets. The events aim to raise awareness among IDPs about their rights, access to public services, and available protection mechanisms.
Announced topics include:
- Registration and restoration of pension payments for IDPs and people from temporarily occupied territories.
- The Register of Damage Caused by the Russian Federation’s Aggression against Ukraine.
- Procedures and conditions for receiving living assistance payments for IDPs.
- Housing rental subsidies for IDPs.
- Employment and retraining programmes for IDPs.
- Issuance and restoration of identity and citizenship documents.
- Grants for starting a business for IDPs.
- Establishing the facts of birth, death, marriage registration, and divorce in temporarily occupied territories.
- Recognition of educational qualifications obtained in temporarily occupied territories.
- The “Municipal Nanny” service for IDPs.
During the webinars, participants will learn more about current social protection issues, the implementation of rights, and will be able to ask questions directly to experts.
To participate, prior registration is required via the registration form. Organisers note that registered participants will receive a detailed programme and a Zoom access link via email before the event begins.
The initiative is implemented by the NGO “Vidrodzhennia Ukrainy 2022” in cooperation with the Ombudsman’s Office and with the support of the Council of Europe project “Facilitating Access to Human Rights and Essential Services for Internally Displaced Persons and Returnees in Ukraine.”
