How to Evaluate the Effectiveness of an IDP Council: Key Insights from the Webinar

Effectiveness evaluation is a powerful tool for strengthening the influence of IDP Councils and engaging communities in decision-making. This topic was thoroughly explored during the recent webinar “How to Evaluate the Effectiveness of IDP Councils?”, which brought together representatives of IDP Councils from across Ukraine.

Participants, together with speaker Anastasiia Serbina, an expert on internal displacement and democratic governance, and founder of the Training Group AS, examined the following questions:

  • Effectiveness of IDP Council activities: What does it mean? Who conducts the evaluation? What are the evaluation criteria? What are the implications for IDP Councils?
  • Effectiveness assessment of IDP Councils: Four key areas of evaluation.
  • “Indicators,” “metrics,” and “criteria” of effectiveness and other essential terms that allow a meaningful evaluation of a Council’s performance. How can the effectiveness of a Council be accurately “measured”?
  • Working with the results of effectiveness evaluations: how to draw conclusions and develop practical recommendations.

“Since members of IDP Councils work on a voluntary basis, it is important to support their motivation. Effectiveness evaluation can serve as a tool to highlight the real results of the Councils’ work and inspire further steps,” emphasized Anastasiia Serbina.

We thank everyone who joined the discussion and shared their experience!
