Housing for young people and families with children who are internally displaced. On August 26 at 11:00, the online event “Communities of the Future: Opportunities for Every Child and Family” will take place. The event will focus on housing solutions that can support the integration of internally displaced people (IDPs) into host communities.
During the open dialogue, participants will discuss how communities can develop housing policies that help IDPs stay and fully integrate into their new communities. The discussion will focus on combining housing opportunities with access to education, employment, social services.
Key topics include:
- what the state policy on the long-term integration of IDPs in communities should look like and what role housing policy should play;
- what legislative changes communities need to develop and manage housing stock;
- how to combine the resources of the state, communities, and international partners to create housing opportunities;
- how to ensure IDPs have access to housing, social services, education, and employment;
- how communities can take into account the needs of IDPs and permanent residents so that housing solutions reduce tensions and strengthen community capacity;
- which community practices can be scaled up to turn temporary shelter into a real opportunity to build a life in a new community.
Representatives of relevant ministries are invited to participate. The event will be useful for representatives of local governments, regional military administrations, central executive authorities, experts, and international partners.
